The Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) is a non-profit corporation formed to establish, maintain and endorse a standardized set of relevant benchmarks that can be applied to the newest generation of high-performance computers. SPEC develops benchmark suites and also reviews and publishes submitted results from our member organizations and other benchmark licensees.

What's New:

06/30/2008 - The SPEC web and FTP sites will be temporarily unavailable on Saturday, July 5 during a scheduled maintenance window. During this time, our web and FTP mirror sites will remain available for browsing and software downloads.

06/03/2008 - SPEC announces the release of CPU2006 V1.1, adding usability and portability upgrades. Results from V1.1 are comparable to those from V1.0 and V1.0.1.

05/28/2008 - A limited number of registrations are still available for the SPEC International Performance Evaluation Workshop 2008, June 27 and 28 at the Welcome Hotel in Darmstadt, Germany. Visit http://www.sipew2008.org to register.

05/21/2008 - SPECgpc releases SPECviewperf 10 for Linux/Unix, available now for download.

05/20/2008 - The SPECweb committee has begun work on a new benchmark to measure power consumption for web servers.

05/07/2008 - SPEC announces the release of SPECjvm2008, a benchmark suite for measuring the performance of a Java Runtime Environment (JRE), containing several real life applications and benchmarks focusing on core java functionality. SPECjvm2008 is available as a free download.

03/19/2008 - SPEC announces the release of SPECsfs2008, designed to evaluate the speed and request-handling capabilities of file servers utilizing the NFSv3 and CIFS protocols. An initial set of benchmark results is available.

03/18/2008 - SPEC/GWPG has begun development of an industry-standard benchmark measuring power consumption in relation to performance for professional workstations.

03/06/2008 - The paper submission deadline for the SPEC International Performance Evaluation Workshop 2008 has been extended to March 24, 2008.

01/27/2008 - SPEC has issued a call for papers for the SPEC International Performance Evaluation Workshop 2008, bringing together researchers and industry practitioners to share and present their experiences, discuss challenges, and report state-of-the-art and in-progress research in all aspects of performance evaluation. The workshop will be held in Darmstadt, Germany June 27-28, 2008. Paper submissions are due March 14, 2008.

01/16/2008 - The MPI2007 run and reporting rules have recently been updated to disallow the use of automatic parallelization compiler flags in SPEC MPI2007 runs. Licensees should download a copy of the most recent version of the run rules.

12/31/2007 - Registration for the 2008 SPEC Benchmark Workshop is now open. The program schedule is also now available.

12/14/2007 - A maintenance release, V1.20, of SPECweb2005 is available. This release addresses issues with V1.10 and contains updates to the run and reporting rules.

12/11/2007 - SPEC announces the release of SPECpower_ssj2008, the first industry-standard SPEC benchmark that evaluates the power and performance characteristics of volume server class computers. The initial benchmark addresses the performance of server side Java, and additional workloads are planned. An initial set of benchmark results is available.
