Discription of the flags for the Compaq SPECjbb2000 results. 11/13/2001 The vm-swap-eager operating system tuning flag specifies the swap allocation mode, which can be immediate mode (1) or deferred mode (0). In deferred mode, swap space is not allocated until needed. The option "-fast" invokes the Compaq Fast VM, a Just-In- Time (JIT) compiler designed to provide optimal Java run-time performance on Tru64 UNIX system. The Compaq Fast VM is the default VM starting in kit version 1.3.1-1. The option "-fast64" invokes the Compaq Fast VM in 64-bit mode, which uses 64-bit pointers and allows heap size allocations greater than 3072Mb. The option "-XO" is a non-standard option for the Compaq Fast VM that indicates the VM should not generate stack trace information for exceptions. The option "-Xgc:compacting" is a non-standard option for the Compaq Fast VM that indicates the VM should use the compacting garbage collector (a collector designed to enhance the performance on multi-CPU systems).
