Other Notes

The system was a two-node active-active cluster.
One user filesystem was created and used per node.
Each filesystem consisted of 168 disks controlled by two DAC(Disk Array Controller)s, one of which controlled 112 disks, and other controlled 56 disks.
In each disk array, every 8 disks form a RAID 1+0 pool.
OS filesystems are created on 3 additional disks controlled by the node0 DAC that is controlling 112 disks.
The DAC has 2 GB battery-backed write cache and 3-day battery.
The following NFS options were used;
- Disable "Check subtree (subtree_check)" -- To turn off subtree check
- Select "None (no_root_squash)" -- To turn off root squash
- Select "Accept access only from a privileged port (secure)" -- To turn off privileged port check
The following filesystem options were used;
- Disable "Quota" -- To turn off quota function
- Disable "Update Access Time" -- To turn off access time update
- Select "Expand" -- To maximize filesystem journal (4-GB Journal size)
512 MB (per node) memory on the PCIe card is battery backed, called NVRAM, and contains all data that is pending change on the disks. Specifically, the other 512 MB of memory can be lost in a reboot or power loss failure without loss of file system data, because the card is interconnected to the other one.
In the event of system crash, all data to be written back to disk is held in the portion of memory that is battery backed memory (NVRAM). This NVRAM protects pending data changes from loss during a short power interruption and/or system crash and reboot.
All MTU size of the network ports were set to 1500.
