Does SERT allow for patched RHEL 7 kernels
« on: August 25, 2020, 03:58:07 PM »
We have a server that requires a patched kernel for some proprietary hardware.
Does SERT allow patched RHEL 7 kernels?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Lynn,

Thank you for your interest in SPEC and the SERT suite.

The list of supported platforms (OS, CPU and JVM combinations) can be found here: https://www.spec.org/sert2/SERT-JVM_Options-2.0.html. Please note that OS and JVM levels are assumed to include subsequent fix packs, unless the SERT architecture owner creates new option sets.

An architecture that is not on this list (you mentioned “proprietary hardware”) must go through the ISO/IEC 21836:2020 process in order to be added. An overview of this process is posted here: https://www.spec.org/sert2/SPEC_SERT_Component_Update_Process_Draft.pdf
