Should I buy something else for SPECvirt?
« on: May 15, 2017, 10:29:11 AM »
Hi all
I have bought SPECvirt and start to study.
I found dbserver needs a command "db2" and it is not free.
Fortunately, I downloaded Express-C version for free on IBM website.
So, I want to know that should I buy any package or kit to run SPECvirt completely.
Thanks.

Hello Miles,

Thank you for purchasing SPECvirt_sc2013.  Many of the benchmark publications of SPECvirt_sc2013 have used IBM's DB2 database, but the benchmark does not require you to use DB2.  In fact, if you look at the top post in this forum about the Example VM environment that post provides an example of setting up the benchmark using PostgreSQL as the database.  I would take a look at that Example VM documentation and scripts to help you get an environment up and going.  If you would like to continue with trying to get DB2 up and going you can use some of the supporting files provided with the benchmark publications that used DB2.  MariaDB has also been used to publish a result.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Andy

Hi abond
I am going to setup Example VM environment by using PostgreSQL.
I will search from the posts if I meet any problem.
Thank you so much!
