SERT / Re: SERT support for latest Intel & AMD Processors
« Last post by GregDarnell on May 16, 2023, 11:52:52 AM »
The configurations used for different processors and operating systems are updated independently from the SERT tool itself, and can be downloaded manually or from the SERT UI. It is entirely possible, and happens quite often, that support for new processors is added to a SERT version that was released prior to the processor's existence.

The only exception is for an entirely new processor architecture or operating system that requires changes to the underlying tool.

Thank you, astktechno, for your inquiry into v2.0.6 support of AMD's Genoa & Intel's Sapphire Rapids processors.

The following history helps answer your question.

Thus, v2.0.6 was released after these processors' platforms first met ISO / IEC 21836:2020 Ver. E compliance -- consequently ensuring their support.

Latest processor platform acceptance / support is maintained at https://spec.org/sert2/SERT-JVM_Options-2.0.html where corresponding ISO Compliance Reports are published per combination of Processor, OS & JVM cfg.

SERT / SERT support for latest Intel & AMD Processors

Hi Sert Team, is there support for the latest Intel Sapphire Rapids and AMD Genoa processors in the SPEC's SERT 2.0.6 Suite? I ask as the release date appears to be prior to these processor releases.

Thanks for your help.

Apologies for the delay (again). You can find the updated patch SPECvirt_sc2013V1.1_p1a.tgz at https://www.spec.org/virt_sc2013/docs/SPECvirt_Patches.html.

I am also facing the same issue.

Thank you, Takahashi-san, for your OS Configuration question.

https://spec.org/sert2/SERT-JVM_Options-2.0.html reveals that Intel's Core i3-12XXX & Core i7-12XXX processors support Windows Server 2019 -- thus, I recommend contacting your CPU / Processor vendor if Windows Server 2022 support is needed.

Hello.

I prepared a SUT with the following two CPU and OS conditions and was able to install and start SERT 2.0.6, but I cannot set Windows server 2022
from the pull down as shown in the attached screen. Is there anything I am missing in the settings, etc.?

CPU: Core i3-12100TE / Core i7-12700TE
OS:  Windows Server 2022 Standard

SERT / Re: SERT2.0.6 compatible CPU

Sorry to continue. Please allow me to double check on the supported processors.
Are you sure that the following two types of processors are supported?

Core i7-12700TE
Core i3-12100TE

Also, for processors not on the linked list, we need to check with the silicon vendor, correct?

Takahashi-san, yes those two processors appear in the supported client configuration list at https://www.spec.org/sert2/SERT-JVM_Options-2.0.html . They are both supported with Windows Server 2019 and OpenJDK 11.

Yes, for processors not appearing in the above link please work with your silicon vendor.

Thank you for your reply.

I have confirmed the link. I have an additional question.
Regarding intel CPUs, we plan to use 12 generation. I have confirmed that there are i3 and i7 in the list that are compatible with 12G. We are planning to use the processor model number ending in TE, is this a problem?
Also, why are i5 and i9 not listed as 12 generation?

Furthermore, regarding celeron CPUs, the list only goes up to G6, but can we use G7?

Finally, I would like to ask about the operating system.
We are also considering using a Linux OS, but what should we do if we use a version that is not listed?

Takahashi-san,

Combinations of Operating System, Processor Architecture, and Java Versions require test acceptance to be added to the list of supported client configurations. That testing is done by the silicon vendors and submitted to the SPECpower committee. If there is a specific combination of the above that you require for testing, we ask that you reach out to your silicon vendor representative and request that those combinations be added.
