Storage Notes

All storage connected via 2 x 8Gb Fibre Channel links through 2 x StorageWorks 8/8 SAN switches to
11x StorageWorks MSA2212fc and 1 x StorageWorks P2000 storage enclosures. Each MSA2212fc contained
12 x 146 GB LFF 15 K SAS drives and was partitioned into 2 vdisks. The P2000 contained 24 72 GB SFF 15 K
SAS drives and was partitioned into 4 vdisks. 5 MSA2212fc were connected to one switch and 6 were connected
to the other. The P2000 was connected to both switches. The enclosures were partitioned and used as follows:
1 x MSA2212fc - vdisk1: RAID 1 (2 drives), OS; vdisk2: RAID 10 (10 drives), all idleservers (IdS)*

Virtualization Software Notes

Settings made to drivers via esxcfg-module in ESX:

All appserver VMs' first virtual NIC was assigned to the virtual switch attached to the first port of the
10 GbE NIC. Each webserver VM's first NIC were assigned to one of the 1Gb ports of the NC365T
NICs as a pass-through device. All other VMs' first NIC were assigned to the virtual switch attached
to the second port of the 10 GbE NIC. The second virtual NIC for the appserver, dbserver, infraserver
and the webserver were attached to a internal virtual switch unique to their tile.
All VMs started from ESX using command: vmware-cmd {path to vmx file} start

The passthrough NICs' driver was the HP NC-Series Intel igb Driver for Linux v. 2.2.9-2.

Client Driver Notes

One client is dedicated for prime controller
One physical client was used for each tile.

Power Configuration Notes

PTD[0] was connected to server only.
PTD[1] was connected to 4 x MSA2212 enclosures and 2 x StorageWorks 8/8 Fibre switches.
PTD[2] was connected to 7 x MSA2212 enclosures and 1 x P2000 enclosure.
PTDs were run on separate DL360 G5 client running Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 Enterprise Edition.
Client hardware was 1xE5440 Intel Xeon processor and 2 x 1 GB PC2-5300F memory.

Other Notes

A single ProCurve 2910al 48-port switch was used to connect clients to SUT. The 10GbE ports were attached to
a dual port 10 GbE SFP+ expansion module (J9008A)
Both ports of the X520 10Gb NIC and 13 ports of the 4 NC365T NICs (the partial tile used a single port on the 4th NC365T)
were used for networking for the benchmarking. A single port on one NC382i was used to access the vConsole for administration.
2 x StorageWorks 8/8 Base SAN Fibre switches were used to connect the SUT to the external storage.
