Other Notes

NetApp's embedded operating system processes NFS requests from the network layer without any NFS daemons, and uses non-volatile memory to improve performance.
Each filesystem was composed of one RAID-group, containing 20 data disks and one parity disk.
Server tunings:
options nosnap 1 -- disable periodic Snapshot creation, for reproducibility
options nosnapdir 1 -- skip .snapshot entry when reading directories
options raid.scrub.enable off -- disable periodic RAID scrubs, for reproducibility
options minra 1 -- minimize file read-ahead
options udp_lg_dgram.xmit_cksum.offload 1 -- offload checksum computations to NICs
The tested system was a failover cluster comprised of two nodes joined by a cluster interconnect.
Each node was the owner of one filesystem, but the disks were dual-attached so that, in the event of a fault, they could be controlled by the other node using a secondary loop.
Each filesystem was on a distinct pair of FCAL loops.
Each node had two connections to each network, one of which was standing by in readiness for a takeover.
The cluster option was licensed and enabled.
