SPECweb2005 Tuning Descriptions

The files below are provided by the vendors to be descriptions of the various tunings used to obtain their results.

SPEC understands that the network and other options listed in the results' "Notes" sections can often be cryptic and that few people are fluent in the meanings of various system internals across a variety of platforms. So, hopefully, these files will serve to help show what features have been utilized for each result.

Further information about the particulars of any settings used can be obtained directly from the vendor.

These descriptions have been submitted to SPEC, see the disclaimer before studying any descriptions and/or results.

Naming Convention

The file names are in the form of VENDOR-YYYYMMDD.txt where VENDOR is the name of the vendor, and YYYYMMDD represents the year, month, and day that that vendor provided the flag description.

Because a single tuning description is often used for a number of results often over a period of months, the best way to select the correct flag descriptions is to look for the most recent file from the appropriate vendor that is near or prior to the Test Date listed near the top of the results page(s).

NOTE: In many cases there is enough space in the original result page to hold all of the necessary notes, in these cases there may be no description available here.
